There are as few as 6,800 cheetahs remaining in the wilds of Africa. In Iran, there is an estimated 50 individual cheetahs left living in isolated populations, and only 2 are known to be females. Scientist say that only 7,100 cheetahs are left on earth. The biggest decline has been in the past 100 years.
They are the fastest land animal in the world. They can reach 60mph in 3 seconds. They get tired pretty quickly and can only maintain their top speed for a few minutes. They hunt during the day, unlike other big cats. They can see far af. The long black lines that run from the inside of their eye down to their mouth is called “tear lines” and they are believed to protect the cheetah’s eyes from the harsh sun & help them to see long distances. They are the only big cat that can’t roar but they purr and they usually purr super loud while being groomed or cuddling up on other cheetahs.
Cheetahs are so amazing and beautiful. They can’t protect themselves as well as other big cats. They have blunt nails and are just smaller. While males stay in groups, females roam alone. When females have cubs they have to leave them to hunt. Since you’re on the internet, go check out some photos of them and find out more information. If you want to get more involved you can donated to organizations that are doing what they can to help this beautiful fierce animal.
